A hike that is only a five min drive or 4o min bike (1.5m uphill climb) from NCAR is a great place to find some peace and quiet. I saw this view from about 20 ft away and instantly powered up my camera and shot away.
Another Colorado favorite is around the Flattop Mountain Wilderness area. Absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of trails and picking the right weekends is key. We went around Labor Day of '07 and there were plenty of tourists but all with enough room to entertain themselves. The weather was good for the most part and fishing was better for most everyone but me. Alas I would have starved if not for my girlfriend and her dad's fishing prowess.
On the way home from work I noticed a public garden that was being watered just as the sun came out from behind the clouds. Timing and attention play a huge part in the work of a photographer. Luckily I had my camera handy and I came away with one of my better shots. Since this experience, I rarely leave my house without my Nikon.
In the fall of '06 I went hiking with friends who were kind enough to show me some great places to catch peak colors of aspens. It is amazing what can be standing silently just over the next hill which happens to be "in our backyard"! A walk with friends at Walker Ranch was all I needed to catch some of Colorado's wild colors.

About myself: I'm an amateur photographer who shoots most any subject/style that interests me at any given moment.
Great photographic opportunities are always a moment away. I always keep an open mind towards subjects and content when shooting. Life, lifestyle, travel, landscapes and sports are all appealling because of the power and emotion a single image can evoke. And that is what inspires me.
I also encourage you to support a great cause called, www.Mitrata.org , who assists under priviledged families living in Nepal. I took part in a fundraiser called www.3summits.net and it was one of the single greatest experiences of my life. Check out the websites and donate however you can. Every donation makes a difference.
